This is prue and Chris from Loxton, Australia, and we want to say a big thankyou to Luiz (better late than never!) for your generosity and entusiasm – you helped us to so many times in your beautiful country – and if it weren`t for you, we may never have gone hang-gliding that day we bumped into… (a must-do for anyone reading this). We miss Brazil and especially Rio as we are now in Canada in sub-zero temperatures!!! Anyway, just wanted to say thanks and will recommend you to all our buddies back home in Oz. Cheers!

Within a 2 days I took City Tour as well as Favela tour. Both were absolutely amazing experience (as well as a real eye opener). Thank you Be a Local! It’s been a real pleasure.

Luiz, Obrigado from all 9 of us who went to the Botafogo game with you on Sunday – we had a great time and thought the service you provided was excellent. We met some other English people in Rio who wanted to catch a game and told then to contect you.

If your are thinking to try the Favela Party, GO!!!!! We sent an email the day of the party and Mario called at 10pm to make sure we still wanted to go. Within 20 minutes we were picked up by Marcos and he showed us a great time. He even got me a of a drink (Xiboquinha Philadelphia) wile we waited for the buses. I have re-named it “Christmas”. All of the tour guides really friendly and fun. Dancing, fireworks and drunk tourists to laugh at, I had the time of my life!!! They even took care of the […]

Do not hesitate to do the city tour if you get the chance, definitely the best way to see the city. Our guide Marcio was amazing, he told us interesting facts along the way, re-routed us to walk through a brilliant local market rather than get caught in traffic in the minibus, and moved heaven and hell to make sure we got to see sunset from Sugar Loaf mountain when it looked like we were running late. Well worth the money, I’d recommend this tour to anyone.

The favela tour I just did with Be a Local was a really special, eye-opening experience for me. I was a bit hestitant about taking a tour with such sensitive social dynamics, but our guide was a respectful and knowledgable one. This was one of the most tought provoking parts of my 12 days in Brazil. Really recommended for anyone who wants to understand Brazilian society, not just relax on the beach.
